Wolf Time...

Me again with more stuff from my painting table.

Nearly finished Wolf Lord (that's what he is at the moment, may change with more games)
Wolf Priest more or less done...
And finally the Lone Wolf, mainly doing a few of the main models to see how the new paints work and getting an idea of how easy the grey is to do, gone for a nice dark grey not the silly blue grey the Space Wolves seem to have gone too these days.

Really sad day for me today. My dad passed away peacefully this morning. Whilst he never 'got' my obsession with small soldiers; he supported me in anything I did and was a great dad. He fought for so long against Parkinson's and Louis Bodie's dementia but he gave up his fight at 10:10 this morning. Rest in peace dad, we love you.

WW28mm SS Platoon

We have dabbled with a few different rule sets for 28mm WW2 and our hopes are now pinned on Bolt Action released in August.  On the strength of this I have bought an SS platoon with support.  Assembled and ready for the next step

Wrack and ruin

Another post, another unit for my Dark Eldar completed, this time its 10 Wracks.

After my praise of how well these finecast beauties had been produced, I will have to retract some of my love for the material.

On closer inspection and after they had been cleaned up, I could see a lot more errors in the cast than previously seen, even so, they have been green stuffed and tidied up and are done and dusted.

Next up, is an Archon and a Haemonculus...

15mm Hedge for Flames of War

This is my second attempt at 15mm scale hedge.  A few small improvements to be made but certainly good enough for the table
For those that are interested, I used a hot glue gun to stick clump foliage on to strips of hardboard.  I then coated the foliage with watered down PVA glue and left to dry (about 2 days)  Then went back and used PVA and sand on the bare areas.  Three shades of brown and then some static grass.  Only another 11ft to paint and static grass and we will be fighting in the rural heartland of your favourite country.

Paint Station

Well it's yet another wonderful May day bank holiday.......rain, rain and more rain. So more time for hobbies....

Seeing as everyone seems to be showing there painting area I thought I'd join the club and post a picture of mine too.

Simple with loads of space.......to much space sometimes.

Anyway what have I been upto, well finally finished off a few more of my Crimson Fist heros.

Pedro Kantor with head swap.

My Captain Cortez conversion from many moons ago.....no longer in his kitchen Clint!!!

And finally my Librarian conversion with storm shield.

p.s.......WIP Space Wolves..........

Right well that is all, I'm off to start some more painting and get ready for another day off tomorrow as it's my birthday....will I get any new toys....highly unlikely seeing as the wife thinks I have more than enough......

From the mountains they came....

Well, its taken a while...but i finally got there.
Here is my fully painted, based, dipped, varnished and flocked Ogre army.

This picture is actually missing my iron cannon, but you get the idea.
I'm really chuffed with this lot as they have turned out really well...

Any no time to dwell.....i have some rats to deal with

Friday 4 May 2012

Hey how are you...

Today the post man delivered me some Skraelings from Gripping Beast to be used in their SAGA game.

The 4pt starter army contains, 1 Warlord, 3x 8 warriors (8 different poses) and 12 levies (4 different poses), my pack also came with their unique battle board and a double sided A4 set of rules for this faction.

As a club we aren't planning to actively play SAGA for a little while, so these guys will be going somewhere safe while I concentrate on finishing my Dark Eldar, FoW Yanks and 28mm Germans...

No Pain No Gain

I've not touched my Dark Eldar for a while, but with 6th edition 40k not too far away and my resolution of finishing armies to uphold, they have returned to my painting schedule.

Painting yellow isn't particularly fun, but with a few easy steps, does look pretty good.

I have managed to finish five Incubi, to add to the five I had done previously, and was a little worried that they wouldn't match my previous efforts, but low and behold they fit in perfectly.

Next on my list, and already started, are 10 Wracks...

PS, don't know what's happened to the picture, it seems a little strange, or maybe it's my eyes!

Dark Elf Raiders

Lord Elfrith used his pale skinned hand to shield his eyes from the low sun as he scanned the skyline.  He was looking for, actually expecting to see, a dark speck that would resolve into Lord Asbech on his dragon Viscous Mnementh.  Nothing.  He dropped his gaze, turned and walked back to his horse pulling on soft leather gloves as he did so.  He took the reins from the knight holding his horse and not wearing armour he swung easily up into the saddle.  Without a word he healed the horse into a gentle canter down into the valley, his bodyguard following behind.  The snaking ride down the hillside helped reduce the irritability he felt about being corralled in the valley for the last three days.  He wanted both war parties for the next attack but would proceed alone if necessary.  A dawn attack and a ruthless plan would replace the additional warriors he wanted.

On the same ridge, downwind, a figure shifted a musket from one rough hand to another, spat and replaced his unlit pipe. The figure moving smoothly from the cover of a small copse, heading down the other side of the hill and towards the city in the distance muttered to himself ‘I hate fuckin’ Elves’
