Woad-A-Ley-Ee-Ohhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Hey! Remember the Celtic army I was working on?
No!?
Oh...... I know its been a while but....*sigh*.....
Anyway getting a little bored of blue and white for Elves I've taken a slight divergence and finished off a lot of Celtic stuff that's been hanging around the painting table for a while now!

First up a unit of 10 Celtic horseman. I've been jabbing random colours at these for what seems like (bronze!) ages so I decided to just get them finished.
For the amount of effort put in (not that much really, a bit like the English rugby team) they've come out quite well!

Next we have another character, the army standard bearer. Always a big fan of army standards as they keep the lads fighting just that little bit longer (well, hopefully!).
This fella was painted "normally" rather than dipped.

Finally its the start of my fanatic unit, otherwise known as crazy nekked dudes!
The one in the middle is a Warlord games Druid but as I have 3 other druid models (and you only get 1 per army!) I thought he'd be better off as a leader for the fanatic unit.
The other models are Foundry.

This brings the Celtic army points total to 628!! Quite respectable now and certainly enough to give the local Roman Watchtower a fright!

Next on the list is either another warrior unit or some chariots.

Challenge Cup Wk 9

The final week of the Blood Bowl challenge cup has come and gone and here are the highlights.

The night began with a few awards, the 1st went to Lordybloke, as head coach of The Coffin Dodgers he received the Wooden Spoon for coming bottom of the league, this was given to him by Tomarse who the previous year had come bottom with his Chaos team The Invaders.

Next was coach of the year, this ended up in a draw between Boomtown head coach Tomarse and Big Jon, head coach of The Amazon Red Tide.

Before the final and the All Star game kicked off the teams were drawn for the All Star game, the teams ended up being Dwarfs and Elves VS Amazons and Undead, the Orcs were unable to make it as there was a problem with payment to the players, some Orcs were being paid more Teef than others so their head coach The Tart had to stay home and look after the teams goblin finaciers who were trying to balence the books

The Kithband Thunders (0) 1 VS The Coffin Red Tide (0) 0

Players from 4 differant teams hit the field to contest the All Star game, and although these were supposed to be some of the best players of the season they all seemed to be suffering from exhaustion as blocks, passes and dodges failed left right and centre.

The 1st half ended goaless as both teams attempted to get along with their new team mates, the ball passing between the 2 allied teams several times.

The 2nd half was much of the same with both teams strggling to act harmoniously, eventually the alliance of Dwarfs and Elves got their act together with a spectacular passing play as the star Runner of the Thunderers scooped the ball up and slung it to the Warriors star catcher in the end zone.

With plenty of time to equilize the Amazon/Undead alliance made their best efforts to romp up the field with out success, with time running out the they ended a few squares short of scoring and the All Star cup went to the normally warring factions of the Elves and Dwarfs

The Blood Bowl Challenge Cup Final
The Stirland Blitz (1) 2 VS Boomtown (0) 1

The last time these two teams met the Rats of Boomtown won 2-1 and caused the Blitz's only loss and were the only team to score against them all season.

The Blitz chose to recieve and began the game with a failed block, grabbing their chance with 2 rat hands the players of Boomtown dived through the humans defence and grabbed the ball early.

Undetered the Blitz attacked the ball carrier and grabbed it back for themselves swiftly heading up field in their infamous cage attack. Having seen this before Boomtown created a covering defence and eventually forced the ball onto the ground and ran off with it.

A last gasp defence from the Blitz saw them cut off the rats and with their players starting to fill up the KO'd box they amazingly managed to get the ball on the floor again. With the Rats still having time to score the Blitz went for an unlikely pitch length score in theit final turn.

One of Stirlands Blitzers dodged out of the grasp of a skaven player and ran towards the ball, having to put a little more effort in he eventualy got there.
Scooping up the ball he eyed one of the Humans catchers downfield and threw the ball to him, narrowly passing through the hands of an intercept attempt it landed safely in the hands of the catcher who dodged away and sprinted downfield to score a spectacular Touchdown.

The 2nd half began with the head coach of the Rats realising the had only fielded 10 players in the 1st half!!!

Quickly getting his team to full strength his players grabbed the kickoff and made their way downfield slowly but surely.
With time reaching halfway through the second period the rats were in a good position to score thier first touchdown of the half, with one eye on potential overtime and another on the clock amd a 3rd on the ever decreasing size of the Blitz's active players Tomarse had a decision to make and eventually chose scoring over running the clock down a bit, to score was 1-1

With 4 turns left in the half the Blitz had plenty of time to win the game and with re rolls running out and a team lacking in players a win was far from the head coaches mind.

The team grabbed the ball and mde their way down field in the cusomary cage, entering the rats half of the field everything was looking good.
Boomtowns defence was solid and soon the cage was surrounded and scoring looked alot harder than it had done.

Eventually with some good selective blocking the Blitz were able to hand off the ball to one of their catchers who sprinted into the endzone for what would become the Championship winning score.

With no time to pull the score back the Rats had to give in and concede they would finish in runners up spot this year, a great result considering they had come last the previous year.

Challenge Cup Wk 8

The final week of the Season kicked off this week and the excitement was there right up until the final whistle
Boomtown (1) 1 VS The Orcago Boars (1) 3

The Boomtown head coach was otherwise engaged coughing up his guts so they were led onto the field by the Stirland Blitz coach instead.

Confounded by mixed emotions the Blitz head coach wanted to do well for the Rats but knew a heavy loss and a win or draw by the Blackfire Pass Thunderers would mean that his team would meet the dwarfs in the final who they had beaten 2 weeks prior.

The game kicked off and the Rats received but not before a thrown rock from the crowd stunned one of the Orcs blitzers who hit the turf and left a gaping hole in their defence.

After a fumbled attempt to pick up the ball the skaven eventually gather the ball and with minimal effort soon had the 1st score.

This was the end of the good tidings and things began to take a turn for the worst as every hit from the Orcs caused a Rat to either enter the mortury or try and recover from being knocked unconcious.

As the Skavens numbers began to deplete the Orcs managed to scrape an equilizer before the half.

The 2nd half began the same way asthe 1st except it was the Rats who were hit by a flying rock. Already depleted in numbers the Orcs made short work of the Rats and marched down the field to take the lead early in the 2nd half

With only a handful of players and a Blitz by the Orcs things went from bad to worse, the ball again was poached by the greenskins and despite unending efforts by the Rats including a mass dodging and Long bomb effort there was nothing the depleting nyumbers could do and a 3rd socre was inevitable.

With Boomtown taking a 3-1 beating the door was wide open for the Blackfire Pass Thunderers

Blackfire Pass Thunderers (0) VS The Coffin Dodgers (0) 1

Knowing that they had to win to have any chance to get to the final the Dwarfs pulled out all the stops and little did they know when the game began how close they came to the final

The Dwarfs received and a 1st dice roll of double skull was a great start to an unlucky dice rolling game.

After desposing both of the Mummies the Dwarfs attempted to make headway into the Undeads half, it began well but ended up in a mess in the middle with both teams fighting for postion.

Eventually the dwarfs broke free and with time running out they had a chance of taking the lead only for their luck to strike again, a go for it roll was all it needed byt the dreaded 1 reared its head and the half ended 0-0

The 2nd half was more of the same and as the rain continued to fall heavily both teams found it hard to hold on to the ball, each team made efforts to take the lead, the Undead knew this was their last chance to win a game this season.

As the 2nd half dragged on news of the Rats of Boomtowns loss reached the stadium and the fans began to cheer as they knew a 0-0 draw would see them reach the final.

As the bearded players began to realise the could make the big game the undead took advantage of the slip in concentration and broke free with the ball towards the endzone.

As time ran out the Undead scored a last second winner, emotions ran high in the stadium, the Undead overjoyed with their 1st win and the dwarfs heart broken knowing they were only seconds from making the final.

Boh teams must consolidate their losses and get ready for the All Star game next week.

Challenge Cup Wk 7

Week 7 was an interesting affair with only one game actually taking place.

In a mixture of excuses, The Blackfire Pass Thunderers were brought down with what they described as a curse whilst traveling to The Coffin Dodgers stadium for their game.
Head Coach of the Undead denied any involvement but the commission of the league ruled that the Dwarfs would be given a Week to recover and their match would take place the following week.

The Skaven of Boomtown had problems getting to their game with the Orcago Boars with their Doomwheel transports taking damage when travelling through the snow stricken fields of the Badlands.
This was followed by the Orcago boars announcing that some of the players WAGs were unable to make the final game of the season and they refused to play until they were pitch side.
Again the commission decided that their match would be replayed next week in a rearranged week 8.

The Final and Allstar game will now be scheduled for the 18th of February.

The Amazonian Red Tide (1) 3 VS Kithband Warriors (0) 0

In their final game of the season the Ladies of the Red Tide met the Elves of the Warriors in what turned out to be a one sided contest.

The Warriors recieved and a mixture of bad luck and some amazing and complicated plays from the Amazonians meant they were unable to make anything of the situation.
The Ladies took control and scored against the head in the 3rd turn of the 1st half, their defence stood stong after the score and a 1-0 score at half time looked good for the ladies.

The Red Tide recieved at the start of the 2nd half and shocked the Blood Bowl world by taking a quick 2-0 lead, capitalising on more bad luck from the Elves and the death and destruction they were causing.
By the end of the game the Elves had lost 4 players to the medical tent and and another touchdown as well.

The Warriors season ended as it begun, on the end of a 3-0 defeat, the Amazons celebrated moving into 3rd place for the moment.

Dungeon Bowl

In a break from the norm the Stirland Blitz used their extended time off before the final to take part in a charity game of dungeon bowl against a Norse team consisting of a mixture of Norsemen and Dwarfs.

It didnt take long for the Humans toget used to the cramped conditions of the dungeons and they were soon playing like they lived down in the cold stone coffin that was todays pitch.

With players all over the place and explosions rocking the stone work all night the Humans managed to get a relatively quick win gainst the Norse with a running score.

The match was not without its casualties, both teams lost players to not only the hospital but also to the warp and many teleporter malfunctions left both teams looking for new recruits.

The 2nd game was a much more drawn out affair, after the experiances of the 1st game both teams set up solid defences giving their opponants much less of a chance of a quick score.

This time the Norse got the ball early but had soon lost it to the Humans who ran off with the ball and spent most of the game in the final corridor trying to break the Norse defence. After what seemsed a life time the Humans finally got through the defences of the Dwarfs and scored to win 2 games in a row

Whether this will be a good warm up for the final is yet to be seen but both players and fans seemed to have a good time
